How GamePerfHub Estimates FPS

Every result is a source-based estimate for a supported combination. It is not a direct benchmark of your computer.

From data to estimate

  1. Collect source observations.
    The cold-start dataset provides game, GPU, resolution, preset, average FPS, and a source-reported minimum.
  2. Normalize dimensions.
    Names and values are mapped to canonical records, invalid rows are rejected, and imports are tied to a release.
  3. Look up the exact combination.
    The API queries the active release for the requested game, GPU, resolution, and preset. Missing combinations return Limited data.
  4. Explain the result.
    The average and source-reported minimum are compared with your target and shown with confidence and coverage context.

How to read your result

Estimated average FPS is the rounded source-based average for the exact supported combination. Source-reported minimum is preserved as the source reports it; GamePerfHub does not relabel it as 1% Low because frame-time samples are not available.

Meets target means the rounded average and source-reported minimum reach the selected goal. Close to target means the average reaches it while the source-reported minimum does not. Below target means the average remains under it.

Confidence levels

The launch dataset usually contains one source observation for an exact combination and may not reflect current patches or drivers. Confidence therefore describes evidence quality, not a probability that your system will reach a number. When an exact row is unavailable, the result is Limited data.

Current coverage

The first release supports five games, the GPUs present in the approved active release, 1080p, 1440p, and 4K, plus Low, Medium, High, and Ultra presets.

The active public release contains 10,560 calculator cells across Fortnite, Valorant, Apex Legends, Cyberpunk 2077, and Red Dead Redemption 2. The source batch was last updated on January 27, 2023, so current GPUs, current patches, and current drivers may not be reflected.

Known limitations

Current estimates do not model CPU, RAM, laptop power limits, thermals, game patches, ray tracing, dynamic resolution, DLSS, FSR, XeSS, or frame generation. The source-reported minimum is not a 1% low.

Validation status

Production validation metrics are not published yet. GamePerfHub will only show measured holdout results after an appropriate independent validation set exists.

Source and independence

The cold-start source is the Kaggle dataset GPUs FPS Benchmarks, whose uploader states that it was scraped from GPUCheck and labels the dataset CC0. That provenance is useful for a launch baseline, but it does not independently verify upstream rights, measurement accuracy, or current production suitability.

GamePerfHub is not endorsed by game publishers or hardware vendors. If affiliate links are introduced later, commercial relationships will be disclosed and kept separate from FPS confidence labels.
